SYDNEY: The cruelty of weather continues across the New South Wales causing damage, calculated to the tune of $31 million so far, as per Insurance Council claims, and reported in the Australian mainstream media.
The heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hailstorm continue to sweep the region. There are also reports about three women stuck by lighting in the Southern Highlands.
AAP reported that the Insurance Council has declared the storm a catastrophe, with 12,000 claims lodged so far and that number expected to rise.
Meanwhile, the damage bill from bushfires that raged across parts of NSW last weekend and near Canberra on Friday has been calculated as $28.5 million.
