Indian student jailed in Australia for sex overture with teenager

MELBOURNE: An Indian student, Pramod Kumar (22) has been sentenced to 15-months-jail on the charge of procuring a child for sex over the internet. The SBS Punjabi reported on Wednesday.

Pramod Kumar was caught in a police sting targeting child sex predators. The accused reportedly told an undercover police officer that he wanted oral sex from the boy in a dark place.

Having already spent 165 days in detention Pramod is now set to be deported to India and has been living in an immigration detention centre for two months.

He had arrived in Australia from India on January 23, 2014 on a student visa. He was enrolled to study information technology, but never actually began the course. Instead he decided to change courses to study cookery.
