Congress heads for majority in Punjab, AAP trolls at number two

PUNJAB: The Congress seems headed for a clear majority in Punjab, with AAP trailing at number two and the SAD-BJP combine at three. While all of the Badal clan are in the lead, HS Phoolka, Gurpreet Waraich and Sukhpal Khaira were among the top AAP candidates leading.

Capt Amarinder singh is leading in Patiala by 35,000 votes and, Surinder Kumar Dawar of the Congress leading by over 16,000 votes In Ludhiana Central.

Congress’s Navjot Singh Sidhu was leading over AAP candidate by a margin of 2,691 votes from Amritsar-East segment.

In seven Hoshiarpur seats, Chabbewal, Sham Churasi, Mukerian, Urmur going Congress way, Dasuya and Hoshiarpur with BJP, only Garhshankar with AAP.  

Sukhbir Badal leading from Jalalabad by 9,200 votes. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was leading in Lambi Assembly constituency.

HS Phoolka is leading, Manpreet Ayali trailing in Dakha and Rana Gurjeet Singh leading by 9,000 votes from Kapurthala.                                                                

Congress ahead of BJP in Ludhiana North.  In Tarn Taran district, Congress candidates are leading on all four seats: Tarn Taran, Khemkaran, Patti and Khadoor Sahib.                                          

Sukhpal Khaira of AAP leading by 2,500 votes in Bholath.                                            

Dr Upinderjit Kaur of SAD who was leading till Round 5 is now trailing behind Congress’s Navtej Cheema by 250 votes. In Kapurthala, Rana Gurjit leading by 15,000 votes                                       

Congress starts celebrations in Faridkot as party candidate leads by over 5,000 votes.                                    

Pargat Singh of Congress leads in Jalandhar Cantt by 14,000 votes.                       

In Jalandhar Central, Avtar Henry’s son Bawa Henry leads against BJP’s KD Bhandari by 18,671 votes.                       

Congress’s Gurjit Singh Aujla leading by 21,881 votes in Amritsar Lok Sabha bypoll.

Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani trailing from Fazilka by 1,530 votes.

Tota Singh trailing by 1,428 votes.

Among the seats in which the Congress was ahead included Amritsar Central, Tarn Taran, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar West (R), Chabbewal (R), Anandpur Sahib, Fatehgarh Sahib, Dharamkot, Baluana (Reserve), Gidderbaha, Faridkot, Rajpura and Patiala seats.

The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP was ahead in Lambi, Bhagapurana, Moga and Majitha seats, as per early trends.

The AAP was ahead in Bathinda Urban, Mansa, Bhadaur (R) and Mehal Kalan (R) seats.

From Gidderbaha, All-India Youth Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring was leading. In Majitha, SAD’s Bikram Singh Majithia was leading. Congress’s Manpreet Badal was trailing AAP candidate Deepak Bansal from Bathinda Urban as per initial trends.
